    Hello to everyone. I have a problem, at least I suppose it's a problem. Today I've tried to install my Joomla site on my server, I did it on other servers many times but now for the first time on my Dedicated server.

    I did everything by the rules. Created database, installed site but the site was blank in my browser.

    I went then to phpMyAdmin and noticed that it shows:
    ______________________________________________________

    Web server
    • cpsrvd 11.30.5.2
    • MySQL client version: 4.1.22
    • PHP extension: mysql
    phpMyAdmin
    • Version information: 3.4.7.1, latest stable version: 3.4.8
    ______________________________________________________

    So, please, tell me, in my cPanel it shows for MySQL: version5.1.56-log

    but in my PHPMyAdmin not. What is wrong? What to do? I installed cPanel 2 days before, I thought that automatically there is the latest version of phpMyAdmin installed.

    Help me, please.

    Thank you.

    The site being blank would appear unrelated to this issue. The Web server doesn't have to do with the MySQL version. The MySQL details are above those:

    MySQL

    * Server: Localhost via UNIX socket
    * Server version: 5.1.56-log
    * Protocol version: 10
    * User: username@localhost
    * MySQL charset: UTF-8 Unicode (utf8)

    I am certain this should also be showing in PhpMyAdmin area above Web server. The client isn't the same as the MySQL version. You would want to do a few things to properly troubleshoot the issue with Joomla:

    1) Check /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log for any errors when trying to load the site
    2) Check any /home/username/public_html/error_log or whatever path Joomla is installed for an account-level error_log file
    3) Check /var/lib/mysql/hostname.err log for the MySQL error log file. Here hostname would be the server's full hostname that you get from running hostname -f command in root SSH.

    Sorry, I have lost now. Thank you for your explanation but if I access through putty:

    root@server1 [~]# /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log
    -bash: /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log: Permission denied

    Btw, I must admit that I am total Noob with shell access, never before used it and of course, linux commands are nothing I've ever learn before.

    I am still confused about that phpMyAdmin thing, why there is showing old mysql client and is there any way to fix it?

    Is there any way to solve this with cPanel?

    Oh, yes, I almost forgot. I am getting my admin panel in joomla visible, but not the preview of the front page!

    Thank you.

    It isn't showing an old client. This is the same version mine is showing as the client isn't the same as the MySQL version. This is not the cause of the issue you are having. The MySQL version is listed in the MySQL area as one would expect. The client is the PhpMyAdmin web server client version, which is unrelated to MySQL version.

    Now, to focus on the actual errors you would use for troubleshooting, you can check the error logs by tailing them. You cannot directly input a directory path in root SSH, since you haven't told it in command line what to do with the path (such as open the file, show the file contents or show the end of it):

    Code:
    tail -fn0 /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log
    If you run that command while trying to access the Joomla site, it should output any errors into the log file during that time if Apache or PHP has any errors occurring.

    I've made an input of that command in the shell window, reloaded the page - I get this:

    [Sun Dec 11 14:25:25 2011] [error] [client 188.129.96.75] File does not exist: /
    home/hqfactor/public_html/favicon.ico

    I don't know where my answer is, like it's disappeared.

    Here is what I get after i run that command you suggested:

    Are you certain you ran the command immediately before checking in a browser? The results you have do not indicate any issues with the page. Do you have an error_log file in /home/hqfactor/public_html folder? Next, have you checked the MySQL error log?

    On my server, I put all the joomla installation in "joom" folder inside "public_html" so it's all in hqfactor/public_html/joom
    Will you be so kind to give me the right paths to check them.

    Thanks.

    The right path would be /home/hqfactor/public_html/joom to see if error_log file exists to check it using "tail -fn0 /home/hqfactor/public_html/joom" as the command.

    As for the MySQL error log, I do not know the server's hostname, so I cannot give the exact path to that file. It is normally the full hostname in this type of name path:

    Code:
    tail -fn0 /var/lib/mysql/hostname.err
    Where hostname is replaced by the server's fully qualified hostname.

    I've failed somewhere. Is there any way to give my cPanel and shell access to the support? I have not slept for past 50+ hours and I will not until I will not solve all of the problems, I know that you are all busy but this is something I can't handle on without the experts.

    Thank you.

    You are welcome to submit a ticket in WHM > Support Center > Contact cPanel or using the link in my signature. Please ensure to provide the root login details. I cannot say if we can assist, since this appears to be an issue with the script functioning rather than a control panel issue, but you are still welcome to have us confirm one way or the other if that is the case.

    I submited a ticket, thank you very much. I hope this is something minor that I missed because of my very low experience.
