    Hello,

I removed proftpd and re-installed proftpd, to fullfil custom requirements of our customers. There was no credible documentation to setup per user configuration in pure-ftpd, on the web or with cpanel staff.

Its been happening for many days now. Everyday, my ftp server gets automatically reverted back to pure-ftpd. I assume cpanel/whm changes it back, since they advertise proftpd as a security risk.

How can I stop cpanel/whm from automatically reverting my ftp from proftpd to pure-ftpd?

We need proftpd to run without any intervention from cpanel/whm. This is affecting our service

Since Pureftpd has known security issue, the default cpanel update reverts it back to the Pure-ftpd. You may disable the cpanel automatic update to address this.

Revert the cpupdate to Manual method ( it will run only when /scripts/upcp is run forcefully from the shell )

    Any alternatives?

/scripts/upcp is a critical script. It would be the last thing I'd want to do.

Isn't there any other, right way to doing it

change the cpupdate procedure from automatic to manual. This will keep your proftpd installation intact.

I guess no body knows deeply about cpanel

I guess no body knows deeply about cpanel, to suggest another possible solution.

Does cpanel not have any switches to skip updating some packages .. or some way of telling upcp to skip updating/replacing proftpd with pure-ftpd when its run?

avijit: I'v noticed your mentioned solution. Please don't repeat

    Go on, have a guess
You should be able to disable ftp daemon changes using:

    touch /etc/ftpupdisable

You could also do chmod 000 /scripts/ftpup also...but chirpy's solution is better ;)
