We are happy to announce that cPanel, Inc. has released cPanel & WHM Version 70 to the CURRENT tier! Below are just a few of the updates included in this version.

    Geofilter User Logins

Server Administrators can now drastically increase security with cPHulk's new "Country Management" interface. By blocking or white-listing logins in the new “Country Management” interface, you can define who is allowed to log in to your cPanel accounts, WHM accounts, and much more.

More detail is provided in the Version 70 cPHulk documentation.

    Suspend Mail per Email Account

You can now suspend or queue the outgoing mail from a single email account on your server. This feature expands on the options we added in version 54 allowing you to suspend individual email accounts. Read more in the Version 70 Release Notes.

    More Information

Check out the cPanel Release site to see an overview of the latest features and updates cPanel & WHM has to offer! All of the details about all cPanel & WHM Version 70 features can be found in the Release Notes 68 Release Notes - Version 68 Documentation - cPanel Documentation.

We're tentatively planning to publish cPanel & WHM version 70 to the RELEASE build tier this Monday (March 5th, 2018). As always, this is subject to change if something comes up during testing.

As Michael said, we've had to push this off 'till next week. I'll be updating the release site sometime today.

I'd much rather it work than have it go to release buggy. Out of interest, what was the particular bug that meant it was pushed back or is it a case of a amount of little bugs means it didn't pass the minimum requirement for Release.

    Looking forward to MYSQL 5.7

    Hello @Gareth-AWD,

It's related to the Metadata for Backups functionality. We implemented a change to modify where the system stores the metadata.sqlite database. Previously, it was stored in /var/cpanel/backups/. Internal case CPANEL-18837 will ensure it's stored in the backup directory configured in "WHM >> Backup Configuration".

    Thank you.

Dang, just saw the Version page was updated and it says Release for 70 is now scheduled for Mid-April. I'm guessing something went really sideways to cause it to be pushed back ~6 weeks?

    Hello

    cPanel Release 11.70... april...

I really need a fix for this issue:

    SSL Notifications in cPanel 68

This is fixed on 11.70 - we need wait more one month to fix this? Im having more than 25 support tickers per day about AutoSSL messages sent by end users.

    Thank

Can I get some clarification about MySQL 5.7? According to the WHM 70 release notes, MySQL 5.7 is the default from 70 onwards, but MariaDB is recommended? That doesn't seem to make sense. Why would the recommended upgrade path differ from the default installation?:

    Code:
In cPanel & WHM version 70 we added support for MySQL 5.7. New installations of cPanel & WHM version 70 and later now use MySQL 5.7 by default. However, we recommend that you upgrade to MariaDB 10.2.
    Please advise.

    Hi @Trane Francks,

    Good question!

Historically, MariaDB has a better record of issuing bug fixes in a more timely manner compared to MySQL (for both security related and non-security related cases). Thus, we still recommend it in our documentation and in the WHM user interface. One of the reasons that MySQL is installed by default over MariaDB is because it's possible to convert from MySQL to MariaDB, whereas converting from MariaDB to MySQL is not currently supported. Thus, this gives the administrator the option to use the database server of their choosing. Here's a blog post with some more information on our decision to offer support for MySQL 5.7 if you have not yet seen it:

    Thank you.

    Hi, Michael.

Thanks for the reply. I think it's confusing to have a default database that differs from the recommended version. I will stick with the MySQL releases for best compatibility.

Any new time table for when cPanel 70 will reach Release?

Given that a security advisory was released yesterday and cPanel 66 did not get updated, this has some ramifications on those of us that were planning to skip over cPanel 68 and go straight to cPanel 70.

Although skipping cPanel 68 is certainly something that those of us chose to skip over need to take responsibility for. I understand that cPanel 68 is this year's LTS version and cPanel 66 has in fact reached end of life. Was just hoping cPanel 70 would have been released by now.

Any update on this? Not a huge deal, but I had budgeted some time for this week to make the move to 70 when it hits release and upgrade/test Mysql.

Be nice to have a heads up if it isn't happening. Thanks!
