    CPanel refuses to start. It gives the following errors:

    /usr/local/cpanel/cpaneld: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/local/cpanel/perl/Compress/Zlib/Zlib.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Digest::MD5 object version 2.27 does not match $Digest::MD5::VERSION 2.30.

    I have set my update prefs to stable and did an update, no luck. I also ran the perl installer in the hopes of getting the module back.

    Has anyone encountered this error?

    Thanks all!

    Jim

    I have this same problem as well on this server. Another screw up again.

    I suggest you post the fix here instead of just saying open a ticket when several people reported this same problem. Especially when I cannot even access the Cpanel and submit the ticket from there.

    I have the same problem.... my WHM and Cpanel won't start now. What's going on? This is really making me rethink my choice to go with CPanel as my server's control panel.

    cpanel latest version having issues

    Hello,

    The latest cpanel upgrades (8.8 series) have brought about a lot of problems
    including cpanel and pop services not working. I have checked out many
    releases and now the 8.8 edge version seems to be working fine.

    What you need to do is,

    edit the file /etc/cpupdate.conf

    make the entries as

    CPANEL=edge
    RPMUP=daily
    SYSUP=daily

    do the following

    /scripts/sysup
    /scripts/upcp

    This should fix the issue with pop and cpanel services :)

    Dont know what all issues are there with the edge version.

    Regards
    Reeshma

    Thank you very much for that help ladymacbeth.That fixed the problems I was having.

    Cpanel staff should look at testing their software better before releasing a "STABLE" release.

    Thank you ladymacbeth, you are MY HERO! ;)

    Whomever released 8.8 as stable should lose their job for this, c'mon, it brought down lots of servers and could potentially cost a lot of customers. When something is released as stable, it should be stable, not bring down a server. You guys really have shaken my confidence. :(
