vBulletin (the forum software we use here) utilizes a counter that adds more time every time you don't wait long enough. So if I received that message, and then tried to search again, it would say try again in 386 seconds (371 + 15).
An alternative is to use Google Site search. Type site:forums.cpanel.net *your search here* into Google and it will find what you need. This also works with some other search engines as well.
Interesting. I had never seen that add time like. I have seen it countdown but never add time.
Also All I did was get into the forum and click on "New Posts" which looks like it does a search.

I am sorry to say it but you are incorrect.
I have not been to these forums in months and it was my second search. My second search was about 2 minutes after my first search.
I maintain many many vBulletin boards (personally and for others) and there is no "incremental" count as you suggest.
This is either an addon or cPanel has modified the code.
Thanks for the thread link. I would have "used the search function on these boards" but I did not have 6 minutes to wait for another search. It would have been faster for me to submit a ticket to cPanel. Please recheck your board configuration as this is not a default setting, or a useful one if its been customized.
Either the config is bad, the custom code cPanel added is bad, or someone has my logins (ummm) and happened to be lucky enough to be searching 24 times (371 seconds / 15 second wait penalty) the minute I happened to login to the forum for the first time in ages...
By the way I did return after 10 mins or so and made a new search, so this "person with my logins" that was searching 24 times right before I logged in left the minute I made my first search and let the time reset?
Unlikely and a problem with the boards.

I can't duplicate your problem here, logged in or logged out. Using IE8.
Using Firefox 3.0.12 I can duplicate this problem over and over. Logged out.
Logged in with Firefox it (the search tool) seems to work fine.
There is at least one other issue with the forums here and VBseo, no clue if this one can be called a VBseo problem or not though.
Easy answer is login. Or use google.
