Where does cpbackup store the backed up php.ini file? I can find everyother conf file except php.ini in my back.

If you have configured user backups then that backup only include user data and the account configurations. php.ini is a server wide configuration file and its not backed up in those backups.

thats odd because it backups up mysql and httpd conf files which are server wide configurations as well as other system files. they're all in a /files and /dirs folder. so why exclude php.ini

    Go on, have a guess
It looks like cpbackup doesn't back that file up. You could log an enhancement request with cPanel to include it. One issue with restoring such a configuration file is if you haven't run easyapache beforehand to add back any PHP options that you previously selected, PHP will break.
