For the last couple of days I\'ve recieved lines like this:
    [code:1:33c40540f1]cpanelpop[28462]: Session Closed host=xx.xx.xx ip=xx.xx.xx.xx user=x@x.com realuser=x totalxfer=196 [/code:1:33c40540f1]
In my Active System Attack Alert emails. Isn\'t that just telling me that someone checked their mail? Is there a way I can turn of that specific type of notification?

    Thanks

Could it be that people filter these attack alerts straight into trash and never see them?

Anyways, Nick will tell us the purpose of this soon, no doubt.

I have to say this is driving me nuts also. I have guys that check their email every minute and my log is now huge and most of it tells me nothing but normal pop session activity.

Is there any way to make the pop alerts stop in the daily email?

Thank God not just me. Every morning I wait through a 12MB email file download and then it is so large I can\'t even open it with OE on a 1.6P4 with 512 ram! I really wish we could find a solution.

agreed. I do still scan through it and having half of it telling me people are checking mail is a bit much...

hehe, I guess the best way to handle this is to simply get rid of the emails.

The same here, I run a P4 with 1.5 Gigs of ram as a desktop and Outlook 2002. I have to litteraly wait like 5 or 10 minutes for Outlook to open some of these files. :(

You\'re welcome, but actually it was jumpdomain who gave the solution :) - it seems we\'ll save some bandwidth thanks to him! :D

    indeed...

the email messages are completely irritating...

I'd like to be made aware only of true security concerns or other system issues... not normal users logging in via shell, ftp, or email.

The length of relatively useless information makes finding anything worthwhile impossible and these emails are now being just forwarded into a dumpbox without being seen.

I should have been a bit more clear... the email with the information isn't irritating...
it's the information about email in the server report email...

    Feb 10 15:54:37 servername cpanelpop[12189]: Session Closed host=****.net ip=xx.xx.xx.x user=user@domain.com realuser=username totalxfer=188

I just don't personally see the point in having a huge list of when and who checked email... ...unless I'm missing something?

    Edit this file:
    /etc/logcheck/logcheck.ignore

And add this line at the bottom of the file:
    cpanelpop.*Session Closed
