let me see if i can explain myself

this morning i couldnt receive email for one of my clients, i checked the mainlog and maillog etc and didnt find anything out of the ordinary but still when sending and recieving it would just hang

in the end i changed ip addresses as it is a shared box and it started working, but what i need to try and find out now is why my main shared ip address is not serving mail via cppop correctly.

basically 72.21.33.xxx is working and 72.21.33.xx is not it just hangs when recieving mail

possible banned IP ?

Check whether you have a banned IP in your firewall??

If somebody logged in with bad passwords, csf (for example) would prevent further access to that specific IP address.

Why answer now?

Because questions without answers in the database are extremely frustrating.

If 1000 people read the question looking for an answer, but no possible answer is provided, what good is the question?

Perhaps questions without answers should be expired.

On the other hand, if a problem has an answer, maybe it will help somebody.

Note that cPPop isn't used anymore. cPPop was used when mbox was used, and now mbox is deprecated and Courier is used in its place for servers using maildir.
