I am having a problem where the service status screen shows cpsrvd as failed along with several other services (these are random in nature each instance of the problem). I first noticed this when I woke up and there were over 500 e-mails in my box declaring each of the service failures and restart attempts.

I have read many of the posts here on this issue, but can't seem to find anything exactly similar. I don't think any of these services actually fail. Even if httpd shows as failed, I can still look at all the websites, etc.

The only way to get these services to show as "up" is to run: service chkservd restart. Then, after an hour or so, cpsrvd along with several other services, show as failed. Any ideas? I have tried upgrading to the latest STABLE and CURRENT, etc., with no results.

I would just leave this alone but I have noticed some extreme delays in working with SQL queries when these services show as failed.

    Thanks.

I've done some more checking into this and it seems that cpsrvd and other random services report as failed when my firewall is up and active. Restarting chkservd will reset everything to "up" but after a few minutes, they start to report "failed" again.

My firewall is configured to pass anything outbound and has all of the inbound ports listed in the FAQ opened up.

Any suggestions? Here is my iptable inbound config:
