Not looking good.. getting this on multiple boxes as well, started just after this mornings upcp run (Surprise!)

    Code:
    Installed Version: 10.8.2-CURRENT_306
    Newest Version: 10.8.2-CURRENT_467
And that's when the drama started. :(

cPanel is down (SSL or not), and chkservd restarts it every five minutes. Strange thing is, the process appears to be running, it just doesn't take any connections.

    Code:
    # ps -aux | grep cpsrvd
    root 15556 0.1 0.8 16140 9056 ? SN 08:54 0:01 cpsrvd - waiting

    #netstat -a -l | grep 2082
    tcp 0 0 *:2082 *:* LISTEN

    Update:

Tried the old /scripts/upcp --force, had no luck.
Even tried /etc/init.d/cpanel restart.. no go.

Tried /scripts/upcp --force a second time.
Then did /etc/init.d/cpanel restart.. because it's the fashionable thing this season.

Now cPanel is working... not sure for how long, will have to keep an eye on it. :) But atleast the emails have stopped for the time being. No idea what happened differently on the third run. I tried eyeing up the logs side by side and didn't *see* anything differently.. but it is running currently.. (only been a few moments so far.. but we'll see)

I have the same problem in several boxes. Even after restarting Cpanel, it goes down again and the e-mails begin.

All SSL access is down, so cannot access Cpanel, Webmail, etc.

I contacted the DC after i did the /scripts/upcp and had them restart the server manually. Looks like it is working just fine now.

I'm getting reports of this on numerous boxes too. Has anyone found a definitive answer yet?

    Go on, have a guess
You really need to post which version of cPanel you're running. If you're on EDGE or CURRENT at the moment and have upgraded to the latest versions and are still seeing this, then log it through your cPanel license provider and/or in bugzilla so that cPanel are aware and can investigate.

The problem was /var/run/cpsrvd.pid didn't get created when started with
    # service cpanel start

That will make chksrvd to try to restart cpsrvd every 5 minutes.

An alternate way to fix this was to kill any running cpsrvd first,
and then start cpsrvd by hand
    # /usr/local/cpanel/cpsrvd

This will create the pid file and stop chksrvd from complaining.

    This's just a temporary fix.

There was a bug fix for this in 10.9.0-CURRENT_5 which fixes this problem:
"Bugzilla id 4546: Resolved issue where empty pid file would prevent Stunnel from being killed"

    hi

try changing cpanel to the latest stable version.

In file /etc/cpupdate.conf change cpanel=current to cpanel=stable., then run /scripts/upcp.

Please update the status after doing this.

I try this, but no effects, install still version RELEASE

CURRENT pretended me to install version

    I made this so:

    pull down file "install" from
    http://httpupdate.cpanel.net/cpanelsync/CURRENT/

    Edit file
    install

    find

    "/cpanelsync/$HTTPB/cpanel",

    REPLACE WITH
    "/cpanelsync /CURRENT/cpanel",

    Save.

    chmod 744 install

    and run

Version should install CURRENT which acts
