Noticed in my process manager there seems to be a specific .php file that always ramps up activity at certain times of the day. I would see this .php file multiple times with unique process IDs in use with each about 15-20% CPU Usage.

    The command begins with /usr/bin/php /home/ followed by the domain / public_html / phpfile.php

Could I not access root locate the file and see exactly what this file does?

    What do

Sure, if you've got root access you can access that file and take a closer look at it.
