Create a forward-only SMTP email account without it's own mailbox?

Right now, I am using email forwarders only (without actual email account), this works perfectly since I am forwarding to Gmail. However I now have a special requirement:

My helpdesk software requires me to enter an SMTP user/pass (which happens to be my main cpanel user/pass). I don't want to put my main cpanel user/pass in the config files of the software for security purposes. I figured I need to have a separate SMTP account.

My question now is how can I have a separate SMTP account without having an actual mailbox?
I still want it to "forward only" to Gmail.

Create an email account, use that account's user & pass to authenticate, but send to the "forward only" address.

What messages?
If you create a mailbox, like [email protected], and you use that only for authentication, what messages would you get to that mailbox?
