If i setup a secondary nameserver outside of Cpanel/whm and if i modify /etc/named.conf by adding in options

allow-transfer {XX.XX9.53.64;};
also-notify {XX.XX9.53.64;};
notify yes;

will cpanel/whm never delete my entries? I would like my Cpanel/whm server to be the master namerserver and I would like to create a secondary nameserver on which I would manually install BIND with a copy of my Cpanel server zones.

Hello @kiti

cPanel/WHM shouldn't delete the entries and you should be able to work with master/slave setup.

Being said this, I doubt whether cPanel would support such a setup. cPanel recommends the DNS cluster and it does work great and very smooth! Never faced an issue with cPanel DNS cluster since 2005 or so :) BTW don't run any /scripts/rebuilddnsconfig or related scripts as it will rebuild the entire named.conf and your settings may be lost then. I believe it is better to add as include directive than to add it directly.
