I have a tld which I use for the hostname of my dedicated server.
lets say '[email protected]'

I'm buying a new dedicated server hosted in another data centre.

I can't transfer the hostname over to the new server as I'll need to test that I have everything working first.
I plan on moving a few test domains first.

So I'm guessing that I'll have to buy another TLD ?

My NS servers are hosted at the registrar level, along with DNS

Is it possible to create a new hostname lets say '[email protected]', and at the registra end and point this to the new IP address ??
Or would I really have to buy a new TLD ?

my bad. typing habit.
hostnames are server.mytld.com

so just add an additional A record and point it to the new IP ?

@quietFinn is correct, you'd just need to create an additional subdomain for the second server (server2.yourdomain.tld for example), add the A record where DNS is hosted and you'll be good to go.
