creating & restoring full backups

Hi everyone

im new to backing up and limited usage in cpanel

i need to move servers, i have whm & cpanel access

i need to move 8 accounts over..

how do i back all 8 up at once and restore them on the new server please

Use the option "Tranfer Multiple accounts from another server" in WHM to transfer all the 8 accounts in one go. You will have to login to another server where you wish to tranfer the accounts and follow the URL below:

You would need to log into WHM for the server you are transferring to, then select 'copy and account from another server'. You'll need to put the 'from' server's IP, account username to copy, and root/password to copy it over.

If you can't find this option, I'd have to guess you don't have full root access. If that's the case you'll need to ask your host to enable it.

Hi all

thanks for the replies, i have looked at the whm for the current server and there is no Transfers option at all..
i have asked the current host and they are not willing to help me, is there any other way

As you do not have Transfer option in your WHM, it seems you are on a Reseller account as 'InfoPro' stated earlier. In this case you will either have to contact your host (which is not in a helping mode) or have do make a full backup from cPanel for each account.

You will have to login to each account i.e. in cPanel >> 'Backup' option, create a full backup (backup will be created under there respective accounts outside public_html directory), download the backup on your local machine, upload on the new server and restore it.

And above all change your hosting company as soon as possible.

Thankyou very much to all those that helped me with my transfers, i am pleased to say i managed to move 7 out of the 8 accounts over smoothly..

i am struggling with the last the backup file which is 1.83gb

i made a full backup using cpanel and downloaded the backup-9.3.2007_10-58-30_gileraru.tar

file to my pc but no matter what i try this seems to be a bugger..

what would you advise i do with this backup..

Can you upload it to your own account? (I would assume you can) Once there, you've got several options.

via CLI:

mvSPACE/home/username/backup-9.3.2007_10-58-30_gileraru.tar.gzSPACE/home/
and then restore via WHM restore backups. (remove the word SPACE and leave one)

or

Upload to your account then use this great tool to move it to /home/

To install this you'll need to login via SSH though. And since you're there the first way might be easiest. Although using CSE is a real time saver for many things, IMO.
