what's the rules that cPanel / WHM use for allowing usernames / passwords:confused:

I use ModernBill (www.modernbill.com) and the one problem I have with it is getting it to give WHM a valid username

I've looked everywhere for the answer and I cannot even find and answer on here.

Knowing what rules for usernames / passwords would help loads.

every tine I set an account up in WHM I usually have to try several times before I get a username that works.

    I'm using WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.9.0

Since cPanel/WHM users are created as UNIX users on the system, the rules for creating a UNIX system user apply - including an 8 character limit on the length of a username.
