I am just learning how to set up cron jobs for an open source billing script I use and have been researching online using google and the forums here. I have also looked in my cron logs to see other crons set up by csf when they installed my firewall for some direction. I have used these three crons to run the php files in the billing script which check help desk requests, overdue invoices and billing.

My question is: What is the difference when using whatever.php > /dev/null 2>&1
    compared to whatever.php >/dev/null 2>&1?
Does the extra space after the "greater than" sign do something different?

I've tried both and haven't noticed any difference so I'll assume that there is no difference as I cannot find anything to state otherwise. Am I wrong in assuming this?
