noticed this morning, an x86_64 box of mine is showing as having WHM 11.2.0 cPanel 11.8.0-C15923 yet layer1.cpanel.net is showing WHM 11.2.0 cPanel 11.8.0-C15921 as the current release - my i386 boxes are running WHM 11.2.0 cPanel 11.8.0-C15921 - im confused! how can my x86_64 box have downloaded a newer version than is published? (I am aware they are different source trees but I've never seen this before)

They are the same version. The build number is global and was accidentally incremented when the 64 bit builds were begun. Nothing to worry about.

thanks for letting me know - that is a sigh of relief, although I am a little worried that such silly mistakes are being made - I know its only a build number but the confusion and worry caused by it was alarming!

Yes, it is disconcerting and mystifying. When the builds were published I had similar questions. We are investigating methods to rectify that.
