OK.. so I just got a reseller hosting acct. and I am using cpanel and whm for the first time.

One thing I have noticed is that cpanel by default comes with alot of stuff I do not wish my customers to have. I plan on hosting basic personal web page accts. With this I don't want my customers to have cpanel options for &chat, forums, shopping cart, and others&.

I understand that skins can be customized. But not have much luck getting this started. I want to identify within the skin the items I wish to remove, then remove them. I will save the skin or theme with a new name, that is related to the package I have for these users. Then I would make this custom skin of mine the theme for this individual package.

Can anyone help guide me in the right direction.. going to try and download the skin from the server.. I saw someone post some where that you can download the whole skin or theme from your server, then edit it and put it back.

My only question is.. I want to put it back with a new name. What are the steps for doing this?

thanks

The skins are in the /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/skinname directory where skinname is of course the name of the skin. There are 2 ways to add your own.

If you have telnet access change to the directory /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/ then copy the default directory to whatever you want to call yours. From there just download, make changes, and upload. The new directory will be found automatically by WHM.

The other way is with WHM if you have access to the feature needed. Just use &Clone a Cpanel Theme&, then make changes to your version.
