Simple, small file sized, custom error pages, like the 404 File Not Found page, do not display in IE browsers. It will in Netscape though. That doens't make much sense.

If you put a 404.shtml file, and an .htaccess file in your /public_html directory with the folling code in it...

    ErrorDocument 404 /404.shtml

... the simple, small files display fine in IE. So what's the problem with this CPanel function? Anyone know?

Also, if you put too much html code in the erredit.html page and then try to save it, it goes to a &This page cannot be displayed& error page. So it seems that you can't put too little code on the page, or too much code. Kind of picky isn't it?
