I wanted to install a theme that I could play a little with, testing a lot of small changes. I was told by my host that they couldn't allow that, because it would be insecure. They could install (copy) my custom theme to somewhere, but wouldn't allow me to still have access to the source files. Sounds a bit strange to me.

Could anyone tell me if/how this really could be a security risk?

And if so - after 312 changes and an equal number of support ticketsat my host's helpdesk, asking to have yet another update to my custom themem I would probably be asked to leave;)
So how should I test my theme? Can I have some sort of evaluation licence of CPanel running on my desktop box?

I am developing a CPanel simulator, so soon I will not need CPanel to design/test themes, but I also need to verify my simulator :)
