I have searched the forums and found many similar questions, but nothing that has worked for me.

I am trying to setup a couple of ftp accounts that point to either /home or a folder that contains symbolic links to certain account folders (/home/user1, /home/user4, etc). I am leaning toward the latter, but would be happy with either.

I have found the user files in /etc/proftpd/ and tried editing the directory for a certain user, but that doesn't work. It brings up an empty folder without any permissions to do anything.

I am also wondering about my ftp url. I would like to use my shared ip address as the ftp address to login, but using that and logging in brings up the same blank folder without permissions.

    Any ideas or suggestions?
