First off i know it's a security thing but for what I do it saves me time.

    Here's the problem

I have serveral cpanel servers that have 0 problems with cute-ftp logging in as root. My newest server will not let me ftp in under root using cute-ftp. Using filezilla works fine. WHY?

As for standard port 21 ftp everything works great. I really hate filezilla and prefer cute-ftp. Why one works and one does not makes no sense. Does any one have a solution?

    thanks

    Hello :)

It's likely that FileZilla is utilizing SFTP when you access root. I suggest utilizing SFTP if root access is required to transfer files. SFTP is essentially FTP over SSH and is supported by most common FTP clients such as Filezilla.

The actual setting for "Allow Logins with Root Password" with FTP is found at:

"WHM Home » Service Configuration » FTP Server Configuration"

    Thank you.
