This is a continuation of this thread: http://forums.cpanel.net/f354/server-mysql-crash-328931.html

I'm having the same issue - myql crashes daily taking down sites on one of my cpanels created through WHM (the other cPanel I made in WHM doesn't seem to be crashing).

The .err file in /var/lib/mysql/ gave tons of errors:
[ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Can't open file: ... (errno: 24)
I've been dealing with this for about a week now, ever since installing the cPanel trial on my new dedicated server running CentOS 6.6.

I did run the sql to see open files, after following your instructions to increase the limit.
Here is the output of running that sql command (via SSH) to see open files:

+---------------+-------+
| Variable_name | Value |
+---------------+-------+
| Open_files | 32 |
+---------------+-------+
+------------------+---------+
| Variable_name | Value |
+------------------+---------+
| open_files_limit | 1022976 |
+------------------+---------+
I'm hoping this solves the issue, but if anyone has more ideas please let me know.

Just want to update that it's been about a week or so since I increased the open files limit.

I have not done anything with the server since that update, and MySQL has not crashed a single time.

Thus, my conclusion, is that this solved the issue. Hope it helps you too!

Hello,

I am happy to see that modifying that value has addressed the issue. Thank you for updating us with the outcome.
