are you in a shared hosting environment or have your own dedicated server ?

Still with the error you have mentioned it looks like you are in Cpanel shared hosting environment , how much space do you have hosting the account ?

I dont know exactly, but its not much. I dont need much space yet. A lot of the data space is consumed by the tmp directory.
Like 96mb. Is there a way to delete this?

    Depends whats in it.

Go to cPanel > Disk Usage

You can scroll down and use the tree to sort by size, just go into the biggest folders and see what you can remove

If /tmp is the biggest, its most likely from stats like awstats, analog, etc which you can delete but then your stats will be removed.

If you want to take a screenshot of the output from the Disk Usage icon, we can better assist.

Can you screenshot the initial error about the disk being full?

Can you also check cPanel and look for "Disk Usage" under statistics and see what your limit is set to?

    250mb the quota limit.

There is no actual error, I just can't restore a backup.
As you can see in the screenshot in my last post there is also a so called "nobody" that consumes a part of my diskspace.

    250MB I didn't know such limitations still existed ;)

Well that is your problem then, there is no room for you to restore a backup since the account is already full.

The space in the /tmp folder is being used directly in /tmp not a child folder like /tmp/awstats

so there must be files like /tmp/filename taking up the space.

Can you screenshot your /tmp folder?

I'd probably slap your host and tell them to stop being so chincy on the disk space, its 2017.

Don't see the screenshot. If you cannot see any files though, you may not have the option checked to show hidden files which may be the issue.

How are you trying to restore it?

Which part is taking a day, importing the database?

Also what does the backup contain, the files and the database?

Just extract the backup on your computer, then go into phpmyadmin, take a backup of the current database, then check all the tables within the database and drop them. Then import the database from the backup.

If you need to replace all the files, then you might be better off taking a full account back up now, then removing all the files within the wordpress install, then replace them with the files you have in the backup.

You have to pick the one defined in the wp-config.php script.

    DB_NAME
