I just checked the database 'mysql' which holds the database and user priveledges.

I noticed that there always seems to be a default user 'username' and then the users added through CPanel with the format 'dbname_username'

What is the purpose of the default user 'username' ? Is this used by CPanel to connect to PHPMyAdmin or is there more to it?

One of the reasons I ask this because recently I had a problem with sites not being able to connect to mysql (after rebuilding apache+reinstalling Zend)

And this is what the error was :

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user: 'username@localhost' (Using password: NO) in /home/name/public_html/file.php on line 141

The strange thing is people don't use 'username@localhost' localhost to connect to mysql databases, they use 'dbname_ username@localhost', so I'm still wondering where this error came from...
