Whenever I try to restart bind it says :

    Attempting to restart named
    Waiting for named to restart.... . . . . . . . . . . finished.

    named status

named has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "named is not running").

    No idea why...

    any suggestions?

    thanx,
    eric

What does your messages log report ? /var/log/messages after trying to start named.

Have you tried /scripts/fixndc (not sure it works with Debian, but you could try it)

If you post the error log entry, that will help to figure what is wrong.

I get the same error distinct is getting with debian in WHM, I can confirm that named was running before i click the restart button. Afterwards I get that error and the process has been killed, as i checked before and after in ssh by doin ps aux and named was no longer running after hitting it :(

Debian is BETA. BETA = Bad. Switch to centos.
