Hi,

We're currently with a company called burstnet (http://burst.net/) and have a FreeBSD 4.7 server with cPanel there. However the latency of the server is appauling, with 8% packet loss on average.

As such we're looking to move to another NOC that provides FreeBSD+cPanel. Does anyone know of a decent provider that provides FreeBSD+cPanel?

Thanks in advance,
Jez

Try servermatrix.com, I don't have a server with them yet but from the many questions I ask on their forums they seem to support it very well. Not to mention they have a fast network and a customer friendly staff.

Cheers just had a look. Unfortunately they only support FreeBSD on their more expensive servers :( Thanks anyway.

I thought that too. They will support it on the less expensive servers also if you ask for it during setup of the server. At least that's what the salesperson told me.

I have a server with servermatrix too, but now freebsd, is a redhat and one thing i can tell you, ther support is the best i ever seen!

They help me in issues that have nothing to do with them. They share ther knowledge on everything, i see ther support just like a "friend".

PS - I dont get anything ($) with this, is just my opinion of satisfied customer.

Ah - looking at the forum they do seem quite helpful.

Unfortunately I got a reply from their sales team saying they don't do FreeBSD on the basic Celeron servers which is bad news. I might try asking on the forum anyway because I did read there someone else asking about it and they were told it was ok. Perhaps the sales person that replied to me didn't know about this.

Oddly just after I posted the last post I got a mail from _another_ sales person saying 'yes we can do this'! Ho hum - we're waiting to see if burstnet can sort out our current issues - when the network is running ok, it's more than fine. At it's worst though the average loss is about 90% (over say a period of 30mins)!!!
