This should be logged as a bug, it is a PITA. Every time I remove the remote access via Cpanel, it re-appears again.

    Greetings,

Per the MySQL documentation, there are safeguards built-in to ensure that remote hosts are unable to access MySQL with hostnames that start with a digit or dot.

MySQL :: MySQL 5.1 Reference Manual :: 5.4.3 Specifying Account Names
