    Hi,

    I have some e-mails set-up with a parked domain that I now need to delete and then make it the websites main domain. What is going to happen to the e-mails if I delete the parked domain and then add it as the main domain shortly afterwards?

    Apologies if this has been asked before, my searches on Google did not turn up much of use.
    Thanks very much

    If you remove domain, ofcourse it will delete everything associated with the domain. You can download all your mails to your local mail client like outlook and then remove the parked domain. Other option is that you can backup your mail accounts, delete it, later create main domain and you can restore the mail account. A bit tricky though.

    Please test details prior to providing them. I tested removing a parked domain (happydays.foo) and the mail accounts are still there:

    Code:
    root@host [/home/danielle/mail]# ls -ld *happydays.foo
    lrwxrwxrwx  1 danielle danielle   19 Sep 25 04:47 .cpfoo\@happydays_foo -> happydays.foo/cpfoo/
    drwxr-x--x  3 danielle danielle 4.0K Sep 25 04:47 happydays.foo/

    root@host [/home/danielle/mail/happydays.foo]# ls -lah
    total 12K
    drwxr-x--x  3 danielle danielle 4.0K Sep 25 04:47 ./
    drwxr-x--x 10 danielle danielle 4.0K Sep 25 04:47 ../
    drwxr-x--x  9 danielle danielle 4.0K Sep 25 04:47 cpfoo/

    root@host [/home/danielle/etc]# ls -ld happydays.foo && ls -lah happydays.foo/
    drwxr-x--- 2 danielle mail 4096 Sep 25 04:47 happydays.foo/
    total 32K
    drwxr-x--- 2 danielle mail     4.0K Sep 25 04:47 ./
    drwxr-x--- 4 danielle mail     4.0K Sep 25 04:47 ../
    -rw-r----- 1 danielle mail       87 Sep 25 04:47 passwd
    -rw-r----- 1 danielle mail      450 Sep 25 04:47 passwd,v
    -rw-r----- 1 danielle mail       16 Sep 25 04:47 quota
    -rw-r----- 1 danielle mail      379 Sep 25 04:47 quota,v
    -rw-r----- 1 danielle danielle   53 Sep 25 04:47 shadow
    -rw-r----- 1 danielle danielle  416 Sep 25 04:47 shadow,v
    Also, if it were an addon domain or subdomain, the folder in /home/user (either /home/user/sub or /home/user/public_html/sub) will remain. Not everything with a domain is deleted when a domain is removed for an account.

    I suggest making a backup of the entire account to ensure if any data is lost that you can restore it.

    Thanks for the responses, I hopefully will be able to look at this in the next few days and I will report how it goes.

    Something else that just occurred to me, I also have e-mail accounts still set-up with the main domain (that are on longer used and forward to new domain now) if I change the main domain what will happen to those?

    Thanks again
