Hello:

Recently elected to install clamAV via WHM/Cpanel on our server. Seemed to work fine, ran a bunch of scans on various domains hosted on our server (via Cpanel), cleaned out a bunch of phish files and trojans.

However, today I started getting this error in Outlook whenever attempting to send an email:

Your email message was unable to be sent because your mail server rejected the message:
451 Temporary local problem - please try later
I've been researching this throughout the web. I see a lot of threads but no definitive fix for it. Many of the other posts pertain to an error regarding one or more of the 'recipients' but mine is stating the server is rejecting it. This leads me to believe that it's checking against some list that is blocking my domain. WHY I don't know. Unless it has some method of determining if an email is spam and adding it automatically to some blocked list.

Also, the other accounts we host on the server are not able to send or receive. This is a mess.

Using clamAV .88.5

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check your /var/log/exim_mainlog and /var/log/maillog files to see if there is any reason for the discards listed. If not, try adding this to the top of exim.conf and restarting exim (to get it logging more information for you):
Code:
log_selector =  +all
clamAV would not add anything to any lists unless configured to do such in your exim.conf file. Unless it was set up to do so, don't understand why it would be discarding based on clamAV...

First, thanks for your response. Much appreciated.

I reviewed the logs, dug through hordes of pages about the error message, etc. but couldn't find anything definitive. So, I rebooted the server and everything seems to work. I have a feeling it may occur again, however.
