In here:
it says:
"
cPanel Development licenses are available for the purposes below:

  • Internal Development
  • Testing cPanel/WHM EDGE releases
  • Developing applications that integrate with cPanel (whether publicly available or not)
  • Testing environment changes prior to pushing them live
Development licenses are available for current cPanel license holders as well as application developers. Application developers may submit a request using the link below:

https://go.cpanel.net/developer

Current cPanel license holders are eligible for up to 3 development licenses. For verification of eligibility, please provide Customer Service with any IP addresses associated with paid cPanel licenses.

Please Note Production environments are not eligible for development licensing. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval for this license."

I am not planning to develop, just testing, so is it possible to get a "Developer license" for testing?

Hello! While I'm not sure if you would qualify for a development license if you will only be "testing", our customer service team has suggested that you fill out the development license application. We would then be able to give you a more thorough answer regarding why you do or do not qualify.

I started to use cPanel in 2005, 1st as a reseller, and later in own dedicated servers.
I haven't needed to open many support tickets, but when I had to, I got my problem solved every time, usually pretty fast.
Support admins I have talked to have been friendly, and explained clearly what was causing the problem and how to fix it.
Back in 2005, and many years after that, even cPanel, as a company, felt "friendly".
But unfortunatelly it's not the same any more, cPanel has become one of those faceless "giants", and as so many in these forums have stated, the primary purpose for it seems to be to Make Money, as much as possible.
Sorry to say but I miss the old cPanel.

I don't think I will apply for the developer license. 10-15 years ago I might have got it, but now... I doubt.

Kinda a late response, but your post clued me into that there were developer licenses.

It was pretty easy to get. Like you, I've used cPanel for ~15 years. I sent an email to [email protected] with what I was doing, the IP I was going to use, an IP I already have a direct license for, and a written promise it would not be used for any live sites.

I received an email about 3 hours later telling me they had activated the license.

HTH,
Michael
