    Hi,

I apologize for this most basic of questions, but I'm haven't seen any documentation on this, and some forum surfing has turned up empty...

I'm just wondering if it is possible to have a different skin for a site for the admin, ie. different from what it's set to for the owner of that site?

ie. I want to provided a simplified skin for the site owner, so that they can only access email creation, etc, functions. There's a built-in skin for this. But now, as the admin, when I login to the site via http://sitename/cpanel or via the link in WHM, I'm also presented with this skin. This seems to be a severe limitation in Cpanel, unless I'm missing something...?

    Thank you,

    Shiraz

Are you talking about limiting the functionality of WHM for certain users or having multiple logins for a single domain, with certain users having limited functionality?

i'm talking about limiting the functionality of WHM for certain users. I've been doing this simply by choosing a limited skin, alas with the above-mentioned consequence.

When granting WHM/reseller access to users, you are prompted for which permissions you wish to give to the user. You can set the features they have access to in this screen.

For existing resellers, you can edit their privileges in the WHM interface by going to the Resellers section, going to Reseller Center, selecting the user on the bottom of the page then click "Edit Privileges/Nameservers"

Sorry, to clarify, I'm looking at limiting not the WHM functionality for a reseller, but the Cpanel functionality for the owner of a specific account. That is why I have been using the skins, selecting the Xmail skin so that the user can only access a certain range of functions from their Cpanel account. But can I create a separate user for the same account that is presented with a different skin? Or is there another way of limited Cpanel functionality for a specific user?

    Thanks,

    Shiraz

For cPanel users, what you would do is in WHM, in the Packages section - click on "Feature Manager" and create a Feature List with just the features you want enabled. Anything with a checkbox will be enabled, anything without a checkbox will be disabled. Then create a Package (WHM -> Packages -> Add Package) and in the field for Feature List, select the feature list you just created. Then assign that Feature List to the user. If they are an existing user, you can do this in WHM -> Account Functions -> Upgrade/Downgrade Account.

You cannot assign a Feature List directly to a user as they are intended to be used in conjunction with Packages, however you are welcome to create a package and use that only for a single user as needed :).

You can do this very easily with the excellent www.rvskins.com cpanel skin. It has the ability to restrict any cpanel features, based on either package -or- user.

When you login to the user's cpanel as "admin" (reseller), you can still see all the cpanel icons. But for the user, they can only see whatever you've specifed as allowed.

It works very well, and is the primary reason we use rvskin on all our servers.

    :)

Thank you both kindly for your responses.

The RVSkin is exactly what I was looking for. But it's too much for me to be paying for a single client. (Sigh).
