How can we setup phpmyadmin outside cpanel to be accessed by root and all databases? I currently have it working for 1 username.

This would be for temporary use as I knwo there are security concerns with it.

    Thanks

I would download phpMyAdmin and install it manually on a cPanel account. Just be very careful because of the security issues associated with doing this.

I want to login as root directly through mysql however I would imagine that since I cant login as root through the command line, that installing phpmyadmin would serve no purpose.

I wish to be able to see all databases.

    Is this not correct?

    Thank you

Why not use the phpMyAdmin in WHM to see all databases?

Becuase I would like ot perform testing and I would like to also use mysql as room through the command line to view all databases but I cant login as root for some reaon.

This would be for temporary use as I knwo there are security concerns with it.

Could you please provide me with the username that has root login so I may login as root to the mysql database?

If it is not root, perhaps it is a user created by cpanel?

    thanks

The MySQL root password is set in WHM. If you have root access to WHM, you can set this password (even if you have forgotten it) by going to WHM -> SQL Services -> MySQL Root Password.

Out of curiosity, is there some reason you aren't using the phpMyAdmin in WHM?

Each user on the server has phpMyAdmin access to just their own databases only from Cpanel but there is another copy of phpMyAdmin accessed from the WHM administrator menu that has full root access to all databases!

If you are just wanting to have a phpMyAdmin interface with root access to all databases on the server then you already have it! It's in your WHM menu!

So if you login to WHM with root login and password and this is the same for SSH, you are saying that this can be but is not necessarily the same password for mysql login?

    thanks

On old installations of cPanel/WHM, the MySQL root password was never set. This caused problems so eventually with newer fresh installations of cPanel/WHM, it is set to a random string of characters by default. Feel welcome to change this password as you desire. The MySQL root password, if you have never set it yourself, is unlikely to be your root SSH password.
