Disable/Enable Main cPanel Account FTP?

Is it possible for the main Cpanel account login details to enable/disable FTP access? I currently don't see any option inside Cpanel for this. I think if the FTP login details is the same as Cpanel then it renders two-factor authentication useless if an attacker decides to use FTP to gain access to website files.

Hello,

There is no any such option available in WHM-Cpanel, but by doing some modification in /usr/local/cpanel/bin/ftpupdate for all users not for single cpanel user.

You can disable FTP for specific cPanel users if you want to force the use of virtual FTP accounts (E.g. [email protected]). We document how to do this at:

You might want to repost it on the Feature Requests site for discussion. There was an issue a while back with the Feature Requests site and some of the Feature Requests were lost. We might assume yours was one of those.
