Mailscanner will delier the message to the intended recipient, but the actual virus will be stripped out of it first.

If there is a way for mailscanner to completely discard the message, I do not know what it is.

    This:

If there is a way for mailscanner to completely discard the message, I do not know what it is.

    means:

I do not think Mailscanner can do that.

I think this is what you want In the mailscanner.conf

    # Do you want to deliver messages once they have been cleaned of any
    # viruses?
    # By making this a ruleset, you can re-create the "Deliver From Local"
    # facility of previous versions.
    Deliver Cleaned Messages = yes

    Change that to No

Interesting! I had never noticed that before. I wonder what happens to the message. Does it just go away?

I like that in times like this when we are innundated with spam, but I am not so sure during normal, lower threat times.

Can Mailscanner be turned on and off on a user/domain/mailbox basis ?
