I am trying to turn this off and use keys instead. Is there cPanel specific documentation available somewhere?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you can do that from the whm interface but i always edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config for this.:)

Yes, editing the file would have to be done at the path you mentioned, but you can use WHM for generating the keys. I completed the steps but the private key in PuTTY format is being rejected by the server. Not sure how to proceed further.

    Go on, have a guess
You can do it in WHM under:

    For key generation:
    WHM > Manage SSH Keys

    To disable Password Authentication:
WHM > Security Center > SSH Password Auth Tweak
