Hey,

This is what I'm trying to do.
I'm looking to create an FTP only account giving approximate space and bw.
With this account, I would like the user to ONLY have access through FTP.

Here is what I have run into.
I can setup a ftp user on a domain already hosted and give them their own directory.
I can also setup that account to only allow so much space to be used. The problem I'm
having is that I need to limit the bandwidth as well. So as far as I can tell, this method
will not work.

So then I try WHM and create an entire account with space and bw limits. This works great,
except it allows cPanel access and requires a domain.

The only thing I can think of is this.
Setup a fake domain ie. ftpuser1.cc
Then login to that account and setup a ftp user.
Give the client the sub ftp user password.
Then they dont have access to cPanel.

Am I in the right mindset here?
Is there an easier way?

Thanks for the help!

Best solution, I think, would be to create a blank cpanel skin, since you can't make ftp and cpanel have different passwords, then set up an account with WHM so the space and bandwidth can be set.

A blank skin is easy.

Put a directory called nocpanel, or whatever you can come up with, in the /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend directory, then put a simple index.html page saying "Sorry, there is no cpanel with this account. That way if someone does check out cpanel, they can't do anything.
