Disk quota exceeded

-User is unable to FTP anything or check email
-User is only using 50 megs of 300 allocated
-Modified account to make sure whm wasnt screwy
-modified quota

but i still get this error:

I logged into one of the users having a problem, and noticed this:

Disk Usage 0.16 Megabytes
Disk Space Available -0.16 Megabytes


I tired to reset his quota and it still the same, no change...

Quotas have been quite a disaster with 2.4, we have had to patch the quota packages that redhat releases to even get them to see the aquota.user files instead of quota.user

2.4.2-2 (redhat kernel)
2.4.x-ac
2.4.x < 10
2.4.10 and 2.4.11

all handle quotas just a bit diffrently.

One some of those version if you delete a file it will not lower the user\'s usage. redhat knows about this problem however nothing seems to be getting done about it.

DarkORB recommends that all redhat 7.1 users upgrade to 2.4.12 [don\'t use 2.4.11 as there are symlink problems] as soon as possible if you are using quotas. You should be at least running 2.4.8 because kernels before them have been know to have VM problems that can cause crashs.


AlaskanWolf: It looks like /boot/aquota.user and is correupted beyond repair as well as /backup/aquota.* (please also check disk space on /backup) so .. try this

I\'ve installed the quota patch at darkorb.net, quotas are still not working (RH 7.1, kernel 2.4.9).

quotaon -v /home keeps giving an error: quotaon: using /home/aquota.user on /dev/hda5: Device or resource busy.

/scripts/initquotas keeps resetting all quotas to unlimited.

Its busy because quotas are already on.

besides instructions on updating the kernel, some users are *still* having problems, one user has zero megs and cant upload. I have deleted all .user files and reran the script with no success

Try the kernel-howto on linuxdoc.org or you could ask your bandwidth provider to upgrade it for you. Most places usually charge $60-$100 for a kernel upgrade.

I am also having identical problems.

The kernel has been upgraded, aquota.user files deleted and rebuilt, quotas modified and STILL no fix.

Things look ok in WHM, the quotas are set and diskspace used looks pretty good. BUT, within CPanel we are getting the negative figures and it doesnt seem to relate to the figures in WHM?!?

One other thing that I found a bit strange - i did not have a /boot/aquota.user.

Please can someone help me with this??
