In WHM my /newssd disk is using 80%.

However I'm getting critical usage EMails saying the disk is at 88%.

What gives?

The context of the email would be useful as noted by @quietFinn , It also could have been that at the time of the email the disk usage was at 88%.

Apparently I was getting the message before backups were pruned.

I've decreased the # of backups kept by 1, so the problem is solved.

Thank you for the responses.
