    Hello,

I have a server with 40 gig HD, cPanel, and hosting only 5 sites only, mostly personal website of mine and a friend. If I total disk space usage of the five, including MySQL database, it totalled only roughly around 3 gig. But looking into the Disk Usage is cPanel, total space used is 25 GIG, or around 70% space used already. Where do I look to clean this up? I learned that logs should contribute to the disk usage, but i am not sure where to look.

    Any help is highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    root@server [~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/hda3 37G 25G 11G 70% /
    /dev/hda1 99M 19M 76M 20% /boot
    none 243M 0 243M 0% /dev/shm
    /dev/hdc1 38G 1.5G 35G 5% /backups
    /dev/tmpMnt 190M 372K 180M 1% /tmp

    I am looking into

    /dev/hda3 37G 25G 11G 70% /

but I am quite sure where to look exactly.

To see how disk space is used in the /home directory, do:

    Code:
    root@server [~]# cd /home
    root@server [~]# du -h --max-depth=1

Or to get a directory size listing for the entire filesystem:

    Code:
    root@server [~]# cd /
    root@server [~]# du -h --max-depth=1

When you see a directory using more diskspace than expected, cd to that directory and repeat the du comand.
