    CENTOS 6.5 x86_64 standard running WHM 11.44.1 (build 11)

Been getting a DISKWARN email the last few days saying /usr is 83-4% full.. etc.

Checked it out and removed some large log files and so on.. got it down to 6.7 GB according to du.

    Code:
    root@svr4 [/usr]# du -h --max-depth=1
    61M ./src
    84K ./man
    16K ./lost+found
    600M ./share
    56M ./sbin
    20K ./etc
    4.0K ./games
    5.5G ./local
    34M ./include
    154M ./bin
    126M ./lib
    24M ./libexec
    252M ./lib64
    6.7G .

BUT WHM is telling me its still at 9.3GB and using 83%

    Code:
    /dev/sda3 12G 9.3G 2.0G 83% /usr

Not sure what to do next..

Is it a bug that popped up in a recent update or ????

    Thanks

    Hello :)

I have seen this type of issue resolved in the past after a system reboot. You are posting disk space usage information, so it's not related to a bug with cPanel/WHM because it's completely related to your OS.

    Thank you.

Apparently something stopped the disk free / disk use from updating properly and after about 48 hours, it did finally update and now reflects my file cleaning.

    Code:
    root@svr4 [/usr]# uptime
     18:32:11 up 742 days, 3:31, 2 users, load average: 0.30, 0.19, 0.12

    Restart? nope.

    Thanks :)

Disk space is not accurately reported until the processes that had open files that were using space, close the files. A reboot is the fastest way to make sure all files are closed, but this will happen over time as processes end and close files and services are restarted for other reasons.
