Hello,

I am looking for some real documentation for the cpanel dnsonly.

I did install the dnsonly on a FC5 box that only is for DNS service.

I was already running some own scripts for syncs, i disabled that for testing with the dnsonly setup.

Where does the dnsonly server knows where to look/save the synced records?
I dont see any configuration file regarding path information.

If i do sync all, a lot happens but nor named.conf as zonefiles are updated/saved on the HDD.

My named is the standard named package from FC5 and is chrooted.

The install guide on www.cpanel.net shows a nice picture how to set things in the clustering page. But it does not say on what machine you have to set the standalone to sync. Is that on the master or dnsonly machine!?

And is there going to be debian sarge support for dnsonly in the future?
And is there a un-install procedure for dnsonly on my debian machine (because it just dont work)?

Looks like nobody has a cleu ?
Damn.. looks like it that we have to discover things ourselfs right?

So, is it okay to delete all the cpanel dirs on my debian box without breaks?

I have DNS clustering enabled on a FC5 box (dnsonly) and a FC3 box (Hosting machine)
I have set both from Standalone to Sync.
And yes, the WHM key is installed for the trust.

When are the syncs done? is it realtime? Is it once a day by cron?
Where are the zonefiles saved? (not everyone have bind on the same location installed).
Where does dnsonly gets the path where to save the zonefiles? is it a config file that must be edited?

iig, i deleted all the zones on the dnsonly machine. Waited 24 ours. Still no sync done.
If i do a manual sync all, it is doing a lot but no zone info in the named.conf nor zone files in the /var/named/chroot/var/named/slaves/ dir.

So be kind to get us some answers :)

Danny.

Okay, since i can not find or get answers about the cPanel-DNSONLY software, i going think about why the hell cPanel set this piece of software to public download if there is no support or even a proper install/user guide.

Go on, have a guess
No point getting yourself upset. These forums are not for official support. If you need that you should follow the correct channels and log a ticket through your cPanel license provider (or directly with cPanel if you get your license through them).

These forums are for like minded server admins to help out if they want to.
