    hello!

I try search a litle bit before post here, but i didn´t think i found what i was looking, if was allready posted i really apoligize.

In a normal whm/cpanel we have both nameservers and the hosting in the

    hostingserver1

    Runs all services,

    hostingserver2
    Runs all services

In this cenario if either server goes off-line all the mail get lost during the doowntime due the fact that there is no dns services and so the email is failed.

    my question is:

is it possible do the folowing,

    Hostingserver1
all services but only one of the nameservers

    Hostingserver2
all services but only one of the nameservers

    dns_backup_server
second nameserver for hostingserver1 and hostingserver2

So each server would be the second_name_server and be a failover

    OR

    Hostingserver1
all services but only one of the nameservers
    backup_dns_server_for_Hosting_server2

    Hostingserver2
all services but only one of the nameservers
    backup_dns_server_for_Hosting_server2

    If possible is possible

What kind of hardware/license would be necessary,
How dificult would be set up
how many hosting_server could the backup_dns_server serve as slave

Sorry for this noob question :)

You may want to set up a DNS Cluster between the 2 cPanel/WHM servers. As for routing mail, you can setup a Backup MX record (supported as of 11.25.0). As for handling the incoming mail on another server so that it is delivered to the cPanel/WHM server once it comes back online, that is an exercise we currently leave up to you.
