    Hi,

I faced the same situation in RHEL 3.

I tried rpm -qa |grep bind and found bind-libs a different version that other bind rpm.

So i tried /scripts/installrpm bind --force and updated all bind binaries to

    bind-devel-9.2.4-14_EL3
    bind-9.2.4-14_EL3
    bind-utils-9.2.4-14_EL3
    bind-libs-9.2.4-14_EL3

Thsi solved the issue for me.

    Regards,
    Sandeep

We are also having bind issues

    we tried sankvas idea but:

Using RPM Backend: RPM version 4.2.1
bind: installed version 9.2.2.P3-9 is up to date, no action needed.
    unknown package --force (ok)
    root@hosting [/var]#

    the problem continues

This is not really... a great solution but sometimes it works...

    # rpm -qa | grep bind
    # rpm -e all_packages (it will tell you about some deps... those too)
    # yum install bind
    # /etc/init.d/named restart

    Try :
    /scripts/fixeverything

    /scripts/fixrndc

/scripts/fixbuggynamed and /scripts/fixnamed just for good measure
