Hi guys and girls,

I'm having a little problem with my DNS setup - I hope someone can help me out.

My mail domain is 3wdl.co.uk - I have setup the DNS records as such:

DOMAIN - Record Type - Details
3wdl.co.uk. NS ns1.3wdl.co.uk.
3wdl.co.uk. NS ns2.3wdl.co.uk.
ns1.3wdl.co.uk. A 75.126.51.232
ns2.3wdl.co.uk. A 75.126.51.233
3wdl.co.uk. A 75.126.51.232

So - I then try and transfer a domain's details to point to the following name servers:

ns1.3wdl.co.uk
ns2.3wdl.co.uk

However it hasnt work - the guys I use for the domain name have said the following:

Thanks for the ticket. OpenSRS reported the following errors with your request :-

Unable to update nameservers: Nameserver [ns1.3wdl.co.uk] doesn't exist at the registry
Unable to update nameservers: Nameserver [ns2.3wdl.co.uk] doesn't exist at the registry

There are no glue records for those nameservers and so they are invalid, hence the failure. Are you sure those nameservers are correct?

Any idea's what i'm missing here?

Thanks
James

James,

You need to add glue records for your nameserver records (called host records for .com etc), and then get them added to the global top level domain records. You may well be able to do this in the 123-Reg control panel, or you may have to contact support.

Thanks Wallaby,

I've contacted 123-reg so hopefully they will get it sorted shortly.

Cheers
