A while back I used to have a cpanel hosting account where the provider had provided an icon in cpanel that permitted an end user to modify their own DNS zone.

As I recall, it went to the same interface as you get in WHM.

Any ideas how they did this and if it is still possible?

    Thanks,

    Paul

In WHM, go to "Packages --> Feature Manager" and create/edit a feature list with "Advanced DNS editor" and/or "Simple DNS editor" checked. Assign that feature list to a package and assign that package to all users you want to allow to edit their zones. They will find the needed buttons on cPanel main page, under "Domains".

It's not the same interface as in WHM though. For editing MX entries from cPanel you need also to add "Ability to change MX" to that feature list, and for adding SPF records and domainkeys, "Email authentication".
