I wiped my server as it was running CentOS 7, changing over to AlmaLinux. After initial setup it was working OK, with name.host.tld:2087 working as it should. However, after a reboot hostname no longer resolves and is not pingable. The host.tld is pingable, and a quick creation of a different domain and subdomain site are resolving as they should. I can reach the server to do admin work at IP:2087, but the hostname:2087 is failing.

I opened a ticket with cpanel (95047499), but they are stating it's filtering on the firewall that is preventing DNS lookups. If filtering was preventing DNS lookups, then none of the sites would work, so I have a strong suspicion this is a pdns issue. I even removed the firewall completely and name.hold.tld:2087 still failed, but others worked as mentioned earlier. Currently the default cpanel firewall script are the only rules in place, and services (email, dns, etc) are working, again leading me to believe it's a pdns issue.

I do have DNSSEC enabled, and using a DNSSEC check online shows all is resolvable.

I do have entries for host.tld, ns1.host.tld, ns2.host.tld and name.host.tld with proper AA records at host.tld and name.host.tld in pdns.

Anyone have insight? Setup is the same as it was for prior 10-years for DNS naming records, although DNSSEC keys were updated.

Decided to change the hostname as a test, and sure enough it resolves without issue. Changed the hostname back, and doesn't resolve.

Deleted any DNS entries for name.host.tld and changed hostname again via cpanel interface so all pdns entries would be updated. Domain is now reachable. Unsure why pdns stopped working for the hostname entry, and why a default cpanel firewall rule was flagged by support as the problem. Seems like an issue with pdns and AlmaLinux.
