So, what's really going on here? There's only one reason that one would want to start requiring licenses on these devices, and it's not good for those actually running DNSonly... That means that in the future, you're going to start charging for these
You don't need licenses to keep track of things. God only knows you do enough of that.
You don't need licenses to verify versions of things. That's not the point there
The only reason you'd start requiring licenses is if you eventually plan on invalidating those licenses, say, because your clients haven't paid up.

cPanel cannot "ensure that no dns functions fail" if a server is 'licensed' at all. That's not the purpose of a license. That's the purpose of a server admin (which one should have when utilizing cPanel, anyways).Our goal when we do start requiring a license is to ensure that no DNS functions fail, regardless of whether or not the server is issued a license.
