Does the DNS only prevent you from running Apache & Exim?

I'm thinking of a small VPS as a combined DNS / Secondary MX and small status / helpdesk site, any reason NOT to use cPanel DNS only on this?

    Hi,

I dont think that there will be problems with that setup.
I am running Zenoss on the DNS-only.

None that I can think of, just remember that DNS-Only must be used in conjunction with an existing cPanel/WHM server. It's not exactly a stand-alone product/DNS system.

Nothing at all wrong with doing this, I have 2 servers running DNSONLY and a seperate install of Apache & Exim, all I will say on it, is remove the restrictions from your yum.conf and install exim and apache from your OS vendor - dont attempt to install apache via easyapache or exim from eximup as cPanel will mess with your init scripts and you will get messages like 'httpd is disabled' when trying to restart it.
